Adjunto fotos de tres perritas rescatadas el dia de accion de gracia de la playa de Barceloneta. Tienen apenas un mes. La mama las habia abandonado y necesitan un hogar. Aquellos de ustedes que puedan proveerles un hogar temporero seran mas que bienvenidos. Ya Geisa se ofrecio para cuidar una de las perritas desde el domingo que viene. Yo creo que puedo tener otra un tiempito, pero quedaria una mas. Tambien hay que gestionarles un hogar permanente, asi que si saben de personas responsables me avisan para entrevistarlos.

Look what I found a few hours ago at Walgreens...Lea was lying in front of the door. When I went to say hi, she turned on her back and started waggin her tail...I thought and thought what I could do with her since I am leaving for travels until the 8th of December and couldn't find anyone to check if they had space.. Anyway...here she is...and my mother will take care of her until I return. I think she is still a puppy but not sure...If not, she is very very young. She is a sweetheart and demonstrated to have some attitude (defended herself from my dogs who are bigger)...She is now in the official dog hostel - my office. I will start all vet processes...with a little help from friends and family since I will not be here. I will also take better pictures..these are not so good because she is still stressed out, not bathed and I was in a hurry to finish packing !

Salome (blind puppy)

My name is Ingrid Parra and I am a volunteer of Alianza Pro Adopcion de Mascotas, in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. We are civil citizens that rescue dogs on the streets and pay for their rehabilitation with our own money. There is no help form the Government. Margie, another rescuer, took care of a litter of seven puppies abandoned in front of a Pet Center. One of the smallest is Salome. One day Salome was acting different from the others, not wanting to eat or play, typical of a two month puppy. She took her to the Vet and she was diagnosed as suffering a stroke that made her blind at this young age. Salome can see some shadows and distinguish your voice. She is very playful and active but is afraid of other super active dogs. She is very loving and sweet.

As I mentioned before, Margie is a very active mature rescuer and her house is always full of puppies and dogs whom are send to Boston for adoption. She don't know how to handle this special puppy and told me that she don't want Salome to suffer,that better she will put her to sleep. I told her to give me a chance to search around for shelters in the States, where they care for this innocent souls. I check your website and read about the wonderful care and attention you give these special dogs. I will like to know if you will accept her for adoption in your place. In Puerto Rico is almost impossible to give Salome in adoption, due to her blindness. I want to give this wonderful puppy a second chance; she don't deserves to be put to sleep. She is dewormed and vaccinated and we pay all the travel expenses.

Salome is around 4 months now; approximately 12 pounds, maybe will be 15 to 17, short legs, unknown breed, two shots DHLPP, Bordetella, Rabies, Not spayed. She is gaining some weight now since she mess her food. Very active when you pick her up, then on your lap she is relax. She suffered a stroke when she was maybe 2 months; she was the smallest one of a littler of 6, left in a place where they sell stuff for animals.

I am writing to see if you could help me place a young female pup I picked up day before yesterday from a bustling supermarket parking lot. It was before the storm so you can imagine how busy the supermarket was. She was terrified under a car when I was able to taunt her with some hot dogs into my car and off we went to my vet Dr. Arce in Miramar. I will have her fully vetted (so far the fecal was negative am waiting to hear about heartworm) and spade. I spoke to Dr. Arce today and he said he believes she is highly adoptable because she is young (about 9 to 10 mths) and has a sweet temperament. He tried her around his Golden Retriever and she was happy to meet him with a tail wag. She currently weighs about 12 pounds, but could stand to put on some weight. She shouldn't be more than 20 as an adult. She is mostly black with white patches here and there.

Scooter - disabled kitten desperately needs help

Scooter is a kitten rescued by Liz Kracht of Amigos de los Animales. He was found by her neighbor in a box in a garbage can. Scooter is disabled and doesn't have use of his back legs and needs placement with someone who can provide him with the extensive physical therapy he needs. He's a special placement, requiring a special person. Please read the text from Liz' blog posting below and contact her at elizabeth_kracht@yahoo.com or 787-455-6058.

Scooter is disabled and doesn't have use of his back legs, but we aren't so sure that they wouldn't work with extensive therapy--someone who could spend the time with him to move them...His legs are hyperextended forward right now, but he can extend out his claws, and when he stretches he can wiggle his toes. Scooter needs someone with a lot of patience and a lot of time that can attend to his needs as a disabled kitten. Scooter will need a routine of stimulation to use the bathroom and some kind of wheels or pouch to keep him from dragging himself too much across the floor to prevent ulcers from developing on his skin.

Scooter is about three or four months old. He's extremely playful and fun. He can move quickly! He likes having a cave to rest in, and likes going behind the couch too. He loves the cardboard cat scratcher and has a nice loud set of vocal chords to let you know when he's hungry or has to go to the bathroom. Scooter likes a good neck and body massage, probably because he spends a lot of time using his upper body. And he likes to be held and petted.

Unfortunately, Scooter requires more for his quality of life than anyone that we know can give. When looking at this situation through the big picture lens in being able to provide Scooter quality of life, the obvious choice would be to euthanize him--and still might be, because we don't have the resources or time to give him what he needs. But we have hope that there might be someone out there willing to go the distance with Scooter. When I look into his eyes I can see that he wants to live (I think he also might have something going on with his vision too--maybe farsightedness). But on the other hand, as another friend puts it, "there are worse things than death"; meaning, without quality of life, Scooter would suffer without the right set of hands taking care of him.

Again, Scooter may require one or more of the following, depending on the miracle worker who takes him in:

1. Regular stimulation to urinate and defecate, probably six times a day. He can go on his own, but we think he stimulates himself when he moves across the floor.

2. Possible rehab of his legs, or amputation. His legs do fold into position, but his muscles can't support them. Dr. Ramos thought there might be a way to get the muscles to develop to hold the legs in the right position, and encourage some use of them.

3. A set of wheels or some system of attention to keep him from scooting across the floor too much on bare skin.

Rieguen la voz. Stella necesita ayuda para esta perra de Yabucoa.

Este caso da mucha pena. Stella me llamó al observar que el hombre le daba a lo que ella creía era un saco de papas. La noche que observó el abuso, le removió el perro por cuenta propia para sanarla y cuando acudió a la policia, no le quisieron hacer la querella. Despues de insistir, finalmente la policia anoche le hizo la querella. Ella tiene que llevar a la perra al veterinario urgentemente. Aparentemente, los comentarios de los residentes del barrio era que el abusaba sexualmente de la perra y que hay que chequearle la vagina. Stella está desempleada por lo que busca ayuda con los costos de veterinario. Si alguien quiere hacer una aportación, el numero está abajo. Ya la querella está radicada pero hay que sanar a la perra y comenzar un proceso de terapia. Dice que la perra está bien afectada. No come excepto granito por granito.

Perra confiscada por Estella Rivera ( Ver Attachment ) debido a que estaba siendo golpeada por su dueno en la plaza publica del pueblo de Naguabo. El dueno es usuario de drogas y alcoholico.
Se sospecha que el animal fue abusado sexualmente, razon por la cual debera ser llevada ante un veterinario.

Help for dogs in Luquillo

From Dorene: "I have become aware there is an older lady in Luquillo that is estimated has about 75 dogs in her house. Neighbors have started a legal procedure against her and for removal of the dogs. Allegedly, she contacted the Luquillo Mayor and his response was to bring them over that he would take care of the dogs, which she interpreted as having them killed.

She lives in Urb. Luquillo Mar, Calle A, DD 37 and her name is Petra Rivera. Her son Roberto is desperate and fears for her health, since she adores her rescued dogs and cannot stop crying for fear they will be taken away and killed.

I can go by her house to assess the situation but if anyone can make it before that it would be great.
Hopefully pulling all of our resources together we can help this older lady and save her dogs."

Bebito and his friend Peluchito showed up at a house in Guaynabo. The lady felt sorry, fed them and decided to prepare these lovely dogs for adoption after nobody ever claimed them. They are inseparables; Bebito loves to lick your face and is more active than Peluchito. They are approximately 1 yr old. They were vaccinated on Sep 6 with Rabies, DHLPP and Bordetella, 20 Sep they have the second shot of DHLPP. They are not neutered and Bebito weights approximately 12 -13 pounds.

Good morning: This sweet female dog was rescued last week while wondering on the street of Carolina, Puerto Rico. The amazing thing is how lucky she was to be rescued by Daisy before she suffered a terrible death. Lucero, her new name, is blind. According to the Vet, one of her eyes either has surgery when she was a puppy or was born that way. It seems, according to the Vet Tech, that by her other eye she distinguishes shadows, since she do not crash against objects. She is approximately between 1 and 3 yrs, no more than that, weights 9 pounds, was vaccinated and tested negative for heart worm. Do you know of any shelter for these special dogs? She is a very sweet dog; when you touch her she trembles a little but then is okay.

Actually she is at the Vet waiting for a compassionate person to adopt her. Daisy, her rescuer, is an Air National Guard Colonel and travels a lot, plus she have 6 rescue dogs at her home. Unfortunately she cannot give Lucero the attention that she needs. She will be the perfect company for a retired couple or person. Can you help us find that home for Lucero?

They have gotten their first shots 4 days ago this vet will house them until they will be transported to shelter in NJ but if you have a home or other suggestions I may be able to do something for you.... Hola a todos: Una vez mas nos vemos envueltos en situaciones donde la gente no quiere comprometerse a completar el proceso de rescate que comenzo. Es mejor que otro "bregue." Este es el caso de esta perrita. Cuando me llamaron fue por el anuncio sobre la desaparicion de Soledad; me informo la señora que su esposo rescato esta perrita, la cual habian atropellado y dejado tirada en la Avenida Barbosa. Su esposo fue a la casa, busco una toalla y una cadenita y la cogio. No la llevaron al veterinario pero le paso "ajo con aceite" y curo la pata perrita. Vease la marca de la patita. Ella me indico que como estaba bien le habia abierto el porton para que se fuera pero no se iba y le indique que pasaria a verla, que no la botara. El esposo dijo que no habia prisa. Fuimos a evaluar la perrita; se vacuno, desparasito y se le dejo comida. Le indicamos sacariamos la cita para esterilizarla y vendriamos a ponerle la segunda vacuna, si ellos la mantenian alli lo que la preparabamos. Ella accedio; el sitio se veia muy seguro y tenia su comida y agua. Hoy recibi una llamada de la señora para indicarme que no podian tener mas la perrita porque rompia todo y que el esposo la iba a tirar y la estaba ofreciendo. Se imaginaran lo que le dije. Ahora tengo que hacerme cargo de la perrita pues no lo voy a abandonar a su suerte. Asi es que vamos a pasar el e-mail para tratar de ubicar a esta perrita de menos de 1 año, ya tiene sus primeras vacunas y rabia. Proximamente se esterilizara y se la hara su prueba del corazon (esperamos salga bien). Ella es muy simpatica y se llleva bien con los niños; pesa aproximadamente 40 libras.

Short translation in english: This man called me regarding a dog he rescued on the road, she was left after a man hit her with his car and abandoned her. The wife told me that since she recuperated her health, she opened the gate for her to leave, but the dog stayed there....the man told me there was no rush and that I could go to see her anytime. We agreed that they will continue fostering her while we prepare her for adoption. She was vaccinated and we handed the dosis of pyrantel for her. We also left her dry food. So far, so good. Today the lady called me to let me know that they cannot keep the dog because she is a destroyer; that the husband was thinking of droping her some place and/or offered her to a man. I am so upset; I told her they cannot do that because we are the ones who are taking her of her vet care. I will pick up the dog; I don't want this friendly dog to be thrown to the street but I gave this lady a piece of my mind. I cannot afford to take care of her but I will, so please put her on your priority list. I will continue with the process of preparing her for adoption. She is less than a year,already has her rabies shot and one DHLPP. She will have her second one this weekend. I will check what mix she is; all I know is that she is very friendly and gets along with kids. I want to change her name; any suggestions?

Le estoy buscando casa a Rocco, el dueno se canso de el y si nadie lo cogia lo iba a dejar o mejor dicho, tirar frente a un supermercado ya que no podia tenerlo mas. Tiene un año y esta bien cuidado. Lo tengo hace dos dia y hasta ahora se porta bien, un poco hyper. No se si esta operado y cuando fueron las ultimas vacunas si algunas. Tratare de averiguar, ya sabemos quien era el dueno y donde vive.

Por favor, si saben de alguien que en realidad es AMANTE A ELLOS COMO SI FUERAN SUS HIJOS, me llaman.

Casco

This is Casco, a 4 month old male puppy. I rescued him from a gas station last Friday in Hato Rey. He's been in Dr. Franco's clinic because I have no place for him in my house.

Casco is getting treatment for demodex scabies. He's in a pretty bad shape but hopefully he will get better soon and we can find a good place for him. If any of you can provide foster for this beauty, please let me know. Casco is going to be very grateful!!

i picked up a dog, a girl, on ponce de leon avenue tonight. she was on the public bus lane and about to cross right in front of the rush hour traffic. the people in the area told me that she had been hanging around for the last few days and has no owner, so i put her into my car and bathed her. it looks like she's still a puppy and she's very, very docile and sweet. tomorrow i'll take her to the vet, but i need to find a home for her b/c i can't keep her. i'm not even going to be at home for the next few weekends. if any of you can help me with that, i would be eternally grateful. i don't want to take her to the humane society b/c they'll euthanize her. any help will be appreciated.

Lola is 4 years old, and she's a social secretary: she needs to say Hi to everyone she sees, and just plops down and shows her belly so others can pet her. Very loving dog. Has all vaccinations, is sterilized, weighs 30 lbs.

1 1/2 years old, male lab mix, all vaccines, not sterilized, 40 lbs. this dog broke his femur at three months of age. Dr. Delgado performed a
successful operation, but Sam was left with no feeling in his paw (left back paw), so he developed a problem cutting his pads. I healed it through ten months of making him wear a sock so he could walk and run and not hurt his foot. He walks and runs all right, although sometimes he lifts his leg so it does not touch the ground. This is a chronic condition. He is very loving, and very vocal.

TWO KITTIES

En mi vecindario (walk up) viven varios gatos a los cuales alimentamos, a pesar de las quejas de los vecinos. En menos de un mes debo mudarme a otro apartamento a donde no puedo llevarlos, pues además tengo dos gatas dentro de la casa.

Entre los varios gatos, hay dos que merecen (y quieren) ser adoptados. Uno de ellos es jovencito y extremadamente cariñoso y sé que puede estar dentro de una casa o apartamento. Si no consigo quien lo adopte, tendré que llevarlo al refugio y ya sabemos cuál será su probable destino.

El otro es adulto, pero también muy cariñoso y buen gato. Tal vez éste deba aprender a adaptarse a vivir dentro de una casa, luego de varios años de estar afuera, desde que sus "dueños" se mudaron y lo dejaron "olvidado". Pero también es probable que ya haya vivido
adentro, pues estuvo mucho tiempo tratando de entrar por la ventana del apartamento donde vivían sus "dueños". A este no lo adoptarán en el refugio.

Me ofrezco a llevarlos al vetereninario para los procedimientos de rutina o a aportar $ para ello.

POR FAVOR, rieguen la voz pq. estos animalitos merecen un buen hogar. Adjunto foto de ambos.

Hola, la persona que rescato este perrito hace unas semanas, lo mantiene en el Veterinario pero me expreso que lo va a poner a dormir. Ella indica que debido a que los vecinos le radicaron una querella por tener tantos perritos y tiene otros tantos cuidando en otro sitio lo que se adoptan, ya no puede sostener mas la carga economica. Indica que lo entregara vacunado y esterilizado a quien lo quiera adoptar, Le pedi unos dias mas. Pinto tiene como 1 1 1/2 año y pesa como 40 libras; el Vet dice que es muy bueno y adoptable. Si saben de alguien que le interese adoptarlo o darlo foster home, me dejan saber, antes de que lo pongan a dormir.

The lady who rescued this dog some weeks ago, maintains him at the Vet. She decided to put him to sleep even he is young and adoptable. She cannot afford his long term boading at the Vet. Her neigbords took her to court. If anyone is interested in him,please let me know.
